I met Martin a few weeks ago at a birthday party for my trainer/best friend, Jenny. I didn’t think to post anything about him, because I didn’t think there was anything romantic between us…until today.
Martin is about 10 years older than I am. He’s cute, but sort of nerdy. He was fun to talk to; but we never chatted alone, we were always in a group of other people. We realized that he works for a company that my company had just pitched a project to and we exchanged business cards. He emailed me shortly after the party. It was friendly. We spoke mostly about work and the book club I run (which I mentioned the night I met him).
Then today, after not hearing from him in over a week, I get an email from him. He was asking about how my work travels were, and told me that he is about to go out on the road for work as well. I responded politely, telling him that my trip was wonderful but exhausting. He replies with this:
I will be in Arkansas Tue, Wed and Thurs. Leave Thur to Seattle and come back Sat at around 7pm. Kind of a long week away (which is rare), but it should be fun. Not a lot of work to do. Mostly fun. We should get together after I get back.
I don’t know how to respond! This takes it out of the business-friendly realm, right? Should I assume that he means he wants to go out on a date? I’m not sure that I’m interested. Should I go anyway?
