In my haste to rush out for the holidays, I began to slack off on my Dating Diary entries. Rick will be the first of three.
I met Rick as I was walking back into my office building after picking up lunch. Rick was walking out as I was walking in, and as we passed by each other I heard him turn to me and say: “Wow, you are so cute.”
I started giggling to myself, because it’s entertaining to me when men say these things to me. Before I could even make it to the elevator bank, Rick had run back in to talk to me. He told asked me if I worked in the building, I said that I did. He said that he works for a magazine who just moved into an office in the same building. He tried to give me his card, but found that he was out. I was flustered and just sort of wanted to just get out of there and go eat my lunch, so I gave him MY card.
I don’t know why I do that. I give out my number as a way of getting rid of someone, or trying not to reject them or hurt their feelings. And then they contact me, and I ignore them. I’m so mean! I just can’t handle the confrontation I suppose.
Rick texted me twice and emailed me shortly after meeting him in the lobby. He also tried to befriend me on Facebook. I wasn’t having any of it. This has Bad News Bears written all over it.
